Writing Update!

Image
What on earth is happening with my pseudonym Edie Roones? I hope to finish the Seasons in Sansward  quarternary this year. I'll start with updating the first books ~  Summer Sieges  in August Autumn Spells in November Winter Sorcery  in February of 2022. By then, Spring Magicks  should be finished. Look for this novel in early Spring of 2022 ... ... followed very closely by the bundled set, cover image here! (It helps to have the cover. That inspires me and prods me to write the novel.) Ever Thinking Then I'm heading off in a new direction, a contemporary mystery series of which I have the scantiest idea. Mysteries have been kept tied to my M.A. Lee pen name, but those are historical mysteries ~ and I want to keep that focus. Edie Roones doesn't have a lot of titles. Since I want a different feel for the contemporary mysteries, I'll use ERoones for publishing. I know this: since I can't sustain humor without feeling like a rollicking wheel barrow (I topple...

Evergreen / Ever-Changing

Image
Back in July, I started a Newbie Writer series. Well, as usual, with Autumn came changes. And such extreme changes. The Newbie Writer series has "expanded" into a podcast called The Write Focus. Find information here , which is the transcript for the inaugural episode. As for my fiction ... I have a start on the last book in the Sansward Quarternary >> Spring Magicks. That story is giving all sorts of difficulties. 2021 should see its publication. Watch for it to be announced on my Edie Roones facebook page or on www.writersinkbooks.com , the publishing website for me, Remi Black, and M.A. Lee.

Celebration!

Back in 2016, I published the second book in the Seasons in Sansward Quarternary >> Autumn Spells. Find information here.

What I'm Reading Now

Image
Actually, I just finished this book.  And I have to recommend it.  It's well worth your time and money. I love a good mystery.  I love a good snarky voice.  I especially love a local well-drawn setting that is necessary to the story. Last October I purchased a first book by one of our classic mystery writers Christianna Brand.  I'm on a mission to read the first outings by writers who became great.  Brand authored two dozen mystery novels. Death in High Heels was Brand's first mystery, inspired by an irritating co-worker that she dreamed about killing.  No lie!  It's in the biography. I didn't get to the book until New Year's, and I've just finished it.  And I was surprised--pleasantly so.  Why? Well, for a book that was dreamed up as a fantasy about killing a co-worker, it was hilarious! The puzzle was even better.  For most mysteries, I can figure out the puzzle before the first third of the book is complete.  I ...
